A New York-based consultancy firm has opened its European headquarters in Dundalk, Ireland, from where it will provide guidance on data center projects throughout the continent.

TLM has chosen to open its new County Louth office to give it a base within the European Union, thereby improving its ability to provide project management consultancy services to its clients in the continent.

The company specializes in consultancy for data center projects.

Twelve jobs will be created in the town as a result of the move, each of which will fill a project management position.

Data capital of Europe

Dundalk is situated on the Eastern coast of the Republic of Ireland, and is equidistant between the respective capital cities of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, Dublin and Belfast.

TLM was introduced to the business possibilities of Ireland by the ConnectIreland, the company tasked with delivering the government’s Succeed in Ireland programme. The programme is itself part of the Action Plan for Jobs that aims to create 200,000 extra jobs in Ireland by 2020.

Michael Carron, who co-founded TLM, said: “We are looking forward to building the newest, most technically advanced data centres in Ireland. It is no secret that Ireland has become the data capital of Europe.

“Ireland has all of the key elements needed for the ultimate data center – cool weather, connectivity, and a qualified workforce,” he said.

Ireland is likely to see an influx of companies – particularly in the area around Dublin - seeking to gain a competitive edge on UK-based companies with regard to servicing European clients, according to Mary Glynn, vice president of TLM’s business development team.
