Provider of IT services to law firms Liquid Litigation Management has taken space at Data Foundry's data center in Austin, Texas. The facility will support the client's internal operations servers and its core business data infrastructure.
The 250,000 sq ft carrier-neutral data center was launched in July. This is Data Foundry's second data center in Austin and its third one in Texas.
Multimedia producer ViewMyServer has moved its servers to Phoenix NAP's data center in Phoenix, Arizona. The company will provide colocation, dedicated hosting, backup storage and other managed services out of the facility.
Phoenix NAP launched the data center in June 2010. Its total power capacity at launch was 4MW, but in June of this year the company announced that it had raised enough capital to fund an addition of another 8MW of power at the site.
Tier 3, a Seattle-area-based provider of hybrid-cloud solutions to enterprises, has taken space at two Equinix data centers in Chicago and Ashburn, Virginia. The company said it chose Equinix for its enterprise-grade connectivity, global presence and a carrier-neutral environment.
The Chicago site is due to launch in September and Ashburn is expected to come online early in the fourth quarter.
Connectivity
Provider of connectivity services Sunesys has bought an inner-duct conduit system that will enable it to extend its network into downtown Atlanta and the neighboring suburban markets. Key connectivity areas include the large carrier hotel at 56 Marietta St. in Atlanta.
The duct is about 120 miles long and will enable Sunesys to reach Gwinnett, Fulton and DeKalb counties in addition to downtown Atlanta. The company plans to start pulling fiber through the duct in early 2012.
Auditing
Wholesale data center provider CoreSite has completed a SSAE 16 Type 2 audit of 11 of its data centers around the US. The new audit provides assurance of corporate controls and comes as a replacement to the commonly used SAS 70 Type 1 and Type 2 audits.
Companies that may require that the data centers they use are SSAE 16 certified include publicly-traded corporations, financial firms and healthcare organizations.
