Canada’s Urbacon Data Centre Solutions has secured C$320m ($233m) in funding.
Announced on August 28, the funds will be used for the development of three data centers – DC4, DC5, and DC6 – at Barker Business Park, a 242-acre development located in Richmond Hill, which is north of Toronto, Ontario.
The company states that the campus will offer 150MW of capacity across six facilities upon completion.
Reports that the company was looking for asset-backed financing using a data center in Ontario as collateral emerged in late July of this year.
According to the company’s website, it has built more than two million sq ft (185,806 sqm) of data center space, has 62MW worth of capacity in operation, and more than 150MW in development.
The company has also delivered data centers for the likes of Telus, Rogers, and others.
Urbacon Data Centre Solutions is a division of Urbacon, which is a construction company.
Canada’s data centers are clustered in the area around its main cities. Hotspots of note include Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton.
