The company said it would bring the new facility online around Apr. 1. The £80 facility will bring new data center space to Docklands, powered by 40 MVA of power and offering rack densities of up to 6 kW per rack.

Bob Harris, technical services director at Telehouse, said the new facility would provide much demanded additional data center space and power in the UK market. "Telehouse West has been constructed to ease the UK's capacity and power needs," he said in a statement. "The flagship data centre will provide organisations with the energy and capacity they so desperately need."
The data center is split into nine floors, each with enough space to accommodate 424 equipment racks. Its power and cooling redundancy features include 2 (N+1) UPS configuration, eight 2.5 MVA 11 kW generators, dual power feeds to IT equipment, six 2.7 MW chillers and two redundant standby generators.

Some waste heat from the computer rooms will be converted into energy.
Telehouse says besides a colocation space, the facility will also become a major network interconnection point. One of its first customers is the London Internet Exchange and the company hopes to attract about 400 carriers, ASP's and ISP's. Telehouse will also provide managed services at the new data center.
