Silicon Valley investment firm Accelon Capital has acquired UnitedLayer, provider of colocation and managed hosting services with data centers in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Abjhijit Phanse, a managing partner at Accelon, was appointed to the position of UnitedLayer's new CEO, following the acquisition.

One of UnitedLayer's data centers is a 30,000-sq-ft space located at 200 Paul Ave., a major San Francisco carrier hotel owned and managed by Digital Realty Trust. The provider also has a 3,000-sq-ft data center at 530 W 6th St. in Los Angeles.

Otto Grajeda, UnitedLayer director of facilities and one of the company's co-founders said the acquisition came in the right time. "Without missing a beat, UnitedLayer will be able to more quickly achieve its planned upgrades while maintaining the best quality of service and customer experience," he said in a statement.

Accelon, based in Palo Alto, California, is a private-equity firm, focusing on investment in small and mid-sized companies that provide products and services in IT, software and healthcare.
