Multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, hurleypalmerflatt, along with Trox Advanced IT Cooling Systems (AITCS), has won the Innovation of the Year Building Services Award for its unique CO2 cooling solution.
The CO2 cooling solution was developed by Trox AITCS, in partnership with Star Refrigeration, to respond to new challenges in providing power, cooling and resilience as a result of advances in IT. The innovative cooling solution uses liquid CO2 to meet the technical demands of business critical systems. It is environmentally neutral, can handle heat loads of 20-30KW per cabinet, exceeding water cooled solutions by around 50%, and is capable of saving clients up to 30% on electrical costs.
The Building Services Award recognises the implementation of the solution by Trox AITCS, in collaboration with hurleypalmerflatt, at Imperial College Science, Technology & Medicine. The college required a resilient data centre that could support the whole of the Imperial College property portfolio, which exceeds 500,000 sq m.
Delighted to win the award, Guy Hutchins, Sales and Marketing Director Trox AITCS, commented: "This award cements Trox AITCS' leading position as a mission critical cooling specialist.
Speaking about the award, Paul Flatt, Group Managing Director, said: "We were nominated for three of these prestigious awards and have positioned ourselves at the forefront of the industry for innovation.
"With a short-listing for Large Consultancy of the Year and the International Achievement Award, and a win with Trox for Innovation of the Year, we are looking forward to continued success and growth, he added.
