A medium sized data center built for Petroleum Geo-Services by UK firm Keysource claimed to have achieved an annualized PUE of 1.17 resulting in first year savings of £650,000 in power costs.

The site, which won the Innovation in the Medium Data Centre category at the 2009 Data Centre Leaders' Awards, uses power for cooling for just 100 hours per year because the system is able to make the most of low UK ambient temperatures in combination with adiabatic cooling.'

Separately online gambling site Betfair is using PEER1 in the UK to host its marketing infrstructure.

Over at the Bunker online payments firm Moneybookers said it had extended its footprint at the data center.
