A new IPv6 training program has been designed by the United Arab Emirates Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to help promote awareness of IPv6's importance for businesses and government bodies.

TRA director general HE Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim said the government has been working to develop the ICT sector in the UAE, and considers increased awareness in IPv6 as vital for those working with network and application services.

He said the government is seeking to "focus on building the capacities of entities to prepare them for the future deployment of the IPv6 which is likely to take place in the coming two years as the IPv4 is exhausted from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority".

The program will focus on building capacity within 15 government entities to help them come to grips with international standards and innovation.

Lectures will be presented by leading experts in the ICT sector as well as practical hands-on sessions which will highlight the advantages of an IPv6 migration.
