A new data center campus has been proposed outside Leesburg in Virginia’s Loudoun County.

First reported by BizJournal, the Farkas family has filed a pre-meeting application with the county to build a campus on undeveloped land along the west side of Gulick Mill Road, south of Leesburg, west of Ashburn, and close to the Academies of Loudoun school.

Filed via law firm Curata Partners, the application aims to rezone some 87 acres from transitional residential to industrial park alongside a special exception to develop two data center buildings and an on-site substation.

Full details of the proposed data centers haven’t been shared.

A property listing and sales brochure from CBRE for Holyfield Farm at 20961 Gulick Mill Road previously described the site as “ideally suited” for data center use or single-family residential development.

Loudoun County supervisor Laura TeKrony told BJ she was not going to support the proposals and would prefer to see low-density residential use and parks in that area.
