Twitch, a video platform and gaming platform, has taken space at a Telx data center in San Francisco.
The facility at 200 Paul Ave. is owned by the San Franciscob-based data center wholesaler Digital Realty Trust, who rents it out to service providers such as the colocation and interconnection company Telx.
Jonathan Shipman, executive VP of engineering operations at Twitch, said this is not the first colocation deal with Telx for the company. “Telx has been an important partner in our growth strategy by enabling us to deliver a high performance service of digital media content,” he said.
“We were able to expand our presence with Telx in a cost-effective way and scale quickly to support growing demand from new and existing customers. Telx's facility in San Francisco provides us with a way to expand our user base and improve experience, and we are excited about future opportunities with Telx.”
According to the provider, Twitch was interested in leveraging direct connection to the world's top eyeball, mobile and transit networks offered at the data center. These are expected to support further growth of the company that provides a video platform for the gaming industry, servicing developers, media outlets, organizations, publishers and individual gamers with more than 600,000 unique broadcasters.
The San Francisco Bay Area is a key strategic growth market for Telx. It provides access to domestic and international carriers, CDNs and ISP's, as well as physical interconnection points to large networks and enterprise backbones.
