The director and chairman of TSMC Arizona, Rick Cassidy, has resigned effective July 1.

A successor has not yet been named, but TSMC Arizona president Rose Castanares has been appointed to fill the vacant board director seat.

TSMC reportedly told Chinese language news outlet UDN that Cassidy has been transferred to an executive advisor role and will retire in January 2026.

Cassidy joined TSMC North America in 1997 and was promoted to president and CEO of the division in 2005. He went on to hold various VP roles at the chipmaker before being appointed president of TSMC Arizona between 2020 and 2023, when he took on the role as chair.

On May 2, 2025, Microchip announced Cassidy had joined its board of directors.

The news comes in the same week that a construction worker was injured at the site of TSMC’s Arizona chip fab. The unnamed male worker was taken to the hospital in a “serious condition” having suffered broken bones, local news outlets reported.

Following the death of 41-year-old Cesar Anguiano-Guitron at the same site in May 2024, the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) issued TSMC with a fine of $16,131 for failing to keep the workplace free from hazards likely to cause death or serious harm.

The ADOSH’s inspection into TSMC also found workplace hazards, including the use of over-pressurization, exposure to harmful materials, and exposure to falling debris.
