A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to gain unlawful access to a telecom tower site in North Carolina.

Alamance County Sheriff's deputies charged Joseph Taylor Glassford, 37, of Burlington, on Sunday (February 22) with felony breaking and entering at a cell tower site in the northern part of the county.

Wireless Estimator reports that deputies arrived at the site and found Glassford in a truck backed up to an open gate.

Glassford allegedly told deputies he had been dispatched by a vendor to investigate the alarm, though this was disputed by the law enforcement officials.

The man didn't provide any documentation when requested, only naming the individual he claimed to work for.

However, when authorities got in touch with that individual, they told the police that Glassford had not been employed by the company for more than a year.

Glassford was then arrested and transported to Alamance County Detention Center. The tower site was inspected for possible damage, though officials reported that no service interruption occurred. The tower is owned by SBA Communications.
