TM One, the business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) Group, has officially launched the Iskandar Puteri Data Centre (IPDC), located at the Nusajaya Technology Park in the Malaysia state of Johor.

The IPDC is one of two major facilities planned by the TM Group to meet anticipated growth in data and hosting requirements. The carrier-neutral data center will also house TM’s international gateway, providing access to more than 16 cable systems and 19 points of presence around the world.

Twin core

The IPDC, in tandem with the Klang Valley core data center (currently under construction), is part of the company’s “twin core” strategy, as discussed by company officials who briefed DCD earlier this year.

Located 320km apart, the two facilities will be linked with a fast fiber optic link to enable business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities. TM One wants both data centers to be accredited by the Uptime Institute; IPDC is already Tier III Constructed Facility certified, making it one of just two such facilities in Malaysia.

“The data center is primed to meet the industry’s top standards – ensuring high availability, energy savings and the most advanced security and connectivity specifications to satisfy enterprises in need of ultimate reliability, [especially] financial institutions,” Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Sulaiman, chairman of TM One, said in a statement.

TM currently has 11 data centers located across Malaysia, as well as Hong Kong and the United States.
