Thiess Pty Ltd, one of Australia's largest engineering and construction companies, has been awarded the contract to design and construct Australia's most modern purpose built data centre for the Springfield Land Corporation.
Michael Rosengren, Thiess QLD/NT/Pacific general manager, said that Thiess has been awarded the $121 million contract with construction commencing in June. "Thiess is excited to be involved in this innovative project that will provide Queensland's only Tier 3+ Data Centre capable of meeting the high demands of Australian and Asia Pacific blue-chip companies, Rosengren said.
"The Polaris Data Centre will allow many organisations that have traditionally built, owned and operated their own data centres to outsource this service to an off-site, secure and managed location, states Rosengren.
The development will involve the design and construction of a six storey data center which will host mission-critical Information Communication Technology (ICT) that will accommodate Government, corporate and enterprise customers. The world-class data center will incorporate power and cooling systems that have a high level of redundancy and are self sustainable for 48 hours.
"We congratulate the Springfield Land Corporation for their vision in developing this facility which will give Queensland businesses access to leading edge infrastructure, Rosengren added.
