Colocation and interconnection service provider Telx has completed a third-party review of the internal control structures for 12 of its data centers in nine US cities. The audit, SAS 70 Type II, examines control processes within the company, providing customers with what companies claim is an unbiased assessment of effectiveness of the company's operations, which saves customers time and money they would otherwise spend on checking potential providers on their own.


One of Telx's Chicago data centers is located within Digital Realty Trust's large carrier hotel at 350 E. Cermak Rd.

"Many colocation customers, specifically in the financial services, cloud provider, hosted software and content delivery industries, are required to conduct yearly audits of their vendor companies for their own internal purposes. This can be a costly and lengthy procedure," Jason Schafer, senior analyst at Tier1 Research said in a statement Telx included in its news release.

"In order to remain competitive, SAS 70 Type II Certification is a crucial element for today's colocation providers to enable their customers to save time and money."

The company that conducted the audit was Weaver and Tidwell. The audit included evaluation of the provider's complete colocation and interconnection environment, including transition and activation procedures, security, help-desk, problem change management process, monitoring systems, operations, disaster recovery program and more.
