US colocation and interconnection services provider Telx has expanded one of its data centers in Dallas, Texas, adding 20,000 sq ft of raised floor. Power densities on the new raised floor at 2323 Bryan St. can go up to 200 watts per square foot.

Telx CEO Eric Shepcaro said in a statement, more than 60 network and solution providers used the company's facility on Bryan Street. "To give our Dallas customers even more room for growth, we have proactively added more floor space," he said.

The building, also known as the Univision Tower, is a major carrier hotel, home to the regional headquarters of the Spanish-language television network Univision. CyrusOne, a Cincinnati Bell-owned Telx competitor, also has a data center in the building.

Much of the data center space in the building is owned by the US-based data center-focused real estate investment trust Digital Realty Trust, which leases space to data center users, including retail-colocation providers. Digital has more than 470,000 sq ft of space in the tower.

This is Telx's second data center in Dallas. Its other facility in the city is located at 8435 Stemmons Freeway.

Telx said it had established Metro Cross Connect between the two Dallas facilities. The service connects customers in one data center in a given metro area to network providers in other Telx data centers in the same metro area.

Telx currently has 15 data centers around the US, according to its website. In addition to Dallas, the company has presence in the New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, Phoenix, Charlotte and Los Angeles metro areas.
