Telx has added 40,000 sq ft of data center space to its 111 8th Avenue New York premises, which deals mostly to New York Metro financial markets.

Telecommunications service providers, cloud providers and software-as-a-service providers will also benefit though, according to Telx, which now has double the space to offer its clientele in the region.

Telx client Sumo Capital, according to its director of engineering Patrick Flannery, is reliant on the high-value ecosystem Telx has set up for financial traders in the New York Metro area.

"The Telx 111 8th Avenue facility has become one of our key infrastructure growth locations in the New York metro area," Flannery said.

"Telx's broad choice of network-neutral, third-party connectivity providers supports our high-performance trading infrastructure by keeping our direct network connections in New York City, enabling us to easily and effectively interact with new markets."

It is the second data center expansion Telx has carried out at its 111 8th Avenue New York building.

Telx CEO Eric Shepcaro said the extra capacity will help it continue to provide low-latency connections and services.

"By doubling our footprint in this destination location, we can immediately meet the power, latency, proximity, security and connectivity requirements of the most demanding financial services and enterprises and give them room for future growth," Shepcaro said.
