Telenor Sweden CEO Bjørn Ivar Moen has announced he will step down as CEO at the end of this year.
Moen, who has been at Telenor since 2000, also confirmed he will be leaving the carrier.
The hunt for his successor has begun, confirmed Telenor in a statement.
"All good things eventually come to an end," said Moen on LinkedIn this week. "Today, we announced that I am leaving the position as CEO for Telenor Sweden at the end of the year, and consequently also leaving Telenor.
"It has been a great run, filled with plenty of fun and, at times, its fair share of challenges. But we have pushed on and found ways to progress and move forward. I am so proud of our accomplishments in Sweden, having done so many things together."
Moen first joined Telenor in 2000, where he was initially head of SME and distribution. During his time at the company, he has held several senior positions, including head of mobile and CEO of Canal Digital/Telenor Broadcast.
He spent a year as CEO of Allente Nordic, a Nordic-focused satellite television provider which was created in May 2020, when Canal Digital and Viasat merged.
"During the three years that Bjørn Ivar Moen has been CEO of Telenor Sweden, he has led a true transformation resulting in increased growth and significantly lifting performance in Telenor Sweden," said Jon Omund Revhaug, acting EVP and head of Nordics in Telenor Group.
"Bjørn Ivar is a highly valued colleague with the ability to create enthusiasm and drive change together with our employees and he will be missed."
Telenor Sweden is a subsidiary of Telenor Group, a Norwegian-based mobile operator.
Telenor Group also announced this week that it has appointed Cathal Kennedy as acting Group CTO, replacing Amol Phadke, who has stepped down as Group CTO for personal reasons.
Kennedy, who is currently senior technology leader at Telenor Group, joined the company in 2014. His new role will see him drive Telenor's AI and cloud strategy, confirmed the telco.
