Telenor has confirmed that its head of Nordics, Jørgen Rostrup, has suddenly passed away aged 58.
In a statement, the telco said Rostrup had traveled to Asia for a board meeting, where he suddenly died after an unexpected illness on Saturday (June 22) afternoon.
“Jørgen has been an essential member of our executive team in Telenor for many years, a good colleague, and a dear friend for me personally. It is hard for me to understand that he has passed away. Today, my heart goes out to the family and friends. I share their grief" said Sigve Brekke, president and Group CEO, Telenor Group.
Rostrup joined Telenor in 2017, initially as executive vice president and CFO. From May 2023 until last year, he headed the Telenor Asia team, before becoming the head of Telenor Nordics.
During his time as head of Asia, Rostrup oversaw the formation of Telenor Asia, a move that has made the telco a more independent regional entity in Asia.
Telenor confirmed that it has appointed Jon Omund Revhaug as its acting EVP and head of Telenor Nordics.
Revhaug, who has been at the company since 2000, is currently the chief operating officer at Telenor Nordics, responsible for technology, IT, and shared services across the Nordic region.
DCD's sympathies go out to Jørgen Rostrup's family, friends, and colleagues.
