Telehouse has opened almost 1,000 sq m of additional colocation space at its Telehouse West data center in London’s East India Dock.

Telehouse marketing director Michelle Reid said since opening Telehouse West in 2010, Telehouse has experienced high demand, especially from multinational companies looking for high capacity data center space in London.

"Demand has been exceptionally high since we opened Telehouse West just over a year ago and the initial two floors were rapidly taken up," Reid said.

"Still on schedule, our new floor offers up to 10kW per rack in one of the best locations in London in terms of low latency connectivity, transport infrastructure and security."

She said growth in the use of the Internet, especially, has driven the need for data center space and the need to build out in a phased approach.

Telehouses’ first customers in the 1990s were mostly banks and network providers but has grown in include a large amount of telecommunications and IT companies.

Telehouse has more than 40 data centers around the world. Its £80m Telehouse West data center, which came online in March last year, was seen as a sign at the time of Europe’s growing data center market.
