Telehouse has opened a 220,000 sq ft Tier III data center in Frankfurt.

The colocation provider said the data center, situated in Frankfurt’s financial center, follows its purchase of Databurg GmbH, the largest colocation and data center housing provider in Germany.

Databurg GmbH’s facility is in Frankfurt am Main and has access to Europe’s second largest Internet Exchange with 404 ISPs and carriers from 45 countries DE-CIX.

Telehouse America VP Satoshi Adachi said Telehouse’s new presence in Germany will help it meet the needs of its customers in the financial services space with N=1 redundant power and cooling systems, 24x7 security and up to 21MVA of uninterruptible power supply6 (UPS).

“Expansion into Germany proves that we are committed to fulfilling the needs of our international clients by establishing a reliable data center hub right in the heart of the financial center in continental Europe,” Adachi said.

Frankfurt, along with Dusseldorf in Germany, is known as one of the world’s leading financial hubs. The new data center also sites in a zone known for industrial manufacturing, another of Germany’s strengths.

The Databurg GmbH data center in Frankfurt was first established in 1998 since which time it has offered backup and managed data center services.

Telehouse has been expanding in recent times. Last year it opened three facilities, New York Chelsea in the US, Hong Kong CCC and Telehouse Istanbul.

This newest addition brings the number of data centers in its portfolio to 43 in 23 cities around world.
