Telehouse America, provider of data center space, Internet exchange and managed IT services, is expanding in the New York market. The company recently leased a 60,000-sq-ft data center in New York City and plans to open its doors to customers toward the end of this month.

The company (a subsidiary of KDDI) did not disclose lease terms for the facility on the seventh floor of 85 10th Ave., but the site’s power capacity is 4.15mVA and it can accommodate up to 600 cabinets.

By taking the space, Telehouse is expecting to cash in on relentless demand for colocation space in the New York metro area. The company already has another data center in Manhattan and one on Staten Island – also location of its US headquarters.

Telehouse’s New York Internet Peering Exchange counts more than 135 members.

Noriyuki Kita, executive VP at Telehouse, commented: "With this newest facility, Telehouse continues global expansion while meeting the increasing New York demand for secure, well connected and cost effective colocation facilities with a choice of IT support services."

All supporting infrastructure systems in the facility are configured to a minimum of N+1 redundancy.

In addition to its New York facilities, Telehouse has another US data center in Los Angeles. It also operates a number of data centers in Europe, Asia and South Africa.

The latest New York expansion brings the company’s data center footprint to 39 facilities in 10 countries.
