European carrier-neutral data center provider TelecityGroup has been recertified for the Carbon Trust Standard across its UK facilities.

TelecityGroup demonstrated a 17.5% reduction in carbon, benchmarked against its total installed customer power capacity as part of the recertification process.

The Carbon Trust Standard independently certifies organization’s impact on environmental stability.

Carbon Trust Standard-certified companies need to achieve reductions of over 3.6 Metric Tons of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent, the standard measurement of CO2 emissions.

TelecityGroup achieved recertification in recognition of its best practice achievements in energy management which enable it to minimize its environmental impact.

It has held the standard since 2010 and was the first data center company to be recertified in 2012.

TelecityGroup’s Energy Management Program is designed around the ISO 14001 international environmental management standard and the implementation of the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres’ best practices.

TelecityGroup’s CEO Michael Tobin said: “our European operations set the highest standards in energy efficiency and demonstrate the data centre industry’s critical role in mitigating carbon use in a burgeoning digital economy”.
