European data center provider TelecityGroup announced Monday acquisition of Internet Facilitators Limited, gaining the company’s 17,000 sq ft data center in Manchester, UK.
The facility becomes the English company’s 24th data center in Europe, where it has locations in seven countries. TelecityGroup had presence in Manchester prior to the acquisition and the $33.5m (£21.1m) deal expands its inventory in the market.
“IFL has an excellent track record in winning and supporting great customers,” TelecityGroup’s Country Manager for UK and Ireland Adriaan Oosthoek said in a statement. “They have proven operational excellence, driven by a great team of employees and we look forward to welcoming them to TelecityGroup as we work together going forward.”
IFL’s data center provides 1.4MW of power.
Besides Manchester, TelecityGroup’s data center locations include London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris, Stockholm, Milan and Dublin.
Last week, the company announced that the Carbon Trust Standard Company had issued it the Carbon Trust Standard, a certificate the non-profit gives out to companies that have demonstrated improvements in carbon efficiency. TelecityGroup was recognized for making improvements in its carbon emissions from January 2007 through December 2009.
In the same announcement, TelecityGroup also said it had received ISO 14001 certification for 23 of its data centers. The certification is a result of an audit of the company’s environmental-management practices conducted by an independent party.
