Baltic Tower Company UAB, the newly established tower unit set up by Swedish telco Tele2 and Global Communications Infrastructure (GCI), has announced Evaldas Stankevičius as the unit's new CEO.

As reported by Delfi, Stankevičius was appointed to the role last week after the tower JV spin-off closed last month.

He previously served as Tele2's director of network planning and strategy.

"By creating a modern infrastructure accessible to the entire region, we will create conditions for the rapid development of 5G and future technologies in the Baltic States," Stankevičius said.

Stankevičius joined Tele2 in 2017 and has also previously held roles at the RRT (The Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania) and worked as a radio network planning and optimization engineer at Lithuania-based UAB Mainsec.

Baltic Tower Company has been set up as the first tower company to cover the Baltic region, consisting of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Announced in August, the JV covers around 2,700 tower and rooftop sites across the three countries. The unit is based in Lithuania.

Following the transaction, Tele2 will be the anchor tenant under a 20-year Master Service Agreement (MSA), ensuring long-term and secure access to critical infrastructure.
