Tata Communications has deepened its data center footprint in Europe and Asia-Pacific through partnerships with colo providers Interxion in Europe, NextDC in Australia and Pacific Link Telecom (PTC) in Malaysia.

The company said these partnerships mean it can deliver a uniform customer experience and give customers a single vendor operation and contract for a secure data center network.

Interxion is partnering with Tata at its data centers in Frankfurt, Germany and Vienna, Austria.

Interxion director of connectivity and the mobile community Mike Hollands said that while Tata is initially partnering with the company in Germany and Austria, Interxion’s presence in 11 key markets across Europe was a big factor in the deal.

“Apart from the quality and standard of the data center, we have the people and the local know-how,” Hollands said.

“We make it simple for Tata staff to include our facilities in their plans for their customers.”

Hollands said that a Tata customer from Australia has already placed servers in the company’s Vienna data center.

He added that the partnerships are very much about Tata being able to offer managed services to more of its customers, and realise opportunities that it would otherwise have to walk away from. Interxion’s data centers are already connected to Tata’s core IP backbone.

In a statement Srinivasan CR, VP of data center services at Tata Communications, said that as it was important to have applications hosted on a global data center network to provide a uniform experience to the end-user.

“Additionally, hosting applications in interconnected data center enables the user to access the data from anywhere, anytime and on any device,” he said.

“Expanding our data center footprint forms part of our strategy to enable businesses with the most robust backbone for their organizations’ digital infrastructure.”
