US data center firm T5 Data Centers has split its Services and Properties businesses into two distinct operating entities, T5 Services and T5 Properties.

Under the new business structure, T5 Services and T5 Properties will operate as standalone organizations with separate leadership structures and mandates, while staying under the T5 umbrella.

T5 Services will oversee T5 Construction and T5 Operations. It is aimed at delivering safe, reliable, and high-performance data center facilities. It is led by Tom Mertz, COO and president of T5.

"T5 Services has been built to execute where complexity is highest," said Mertz. "This alignment allows us to continue scaling construction and operations without compromising standards, safety, or performance."

T5 Properties, which is led by Peter Almond, CIO and president of T5, will manage the company’s assets and development, focusing on development strategy, capital planning, power expertise, site selection, and long-term asset stewardship across T5’s portfolio.

Almond said: "This structure allows T5 Properties to further advance our development and investment capabilities while ensuring we remain focused on long-term value creation, disciplined capital deployment, and thoughtful growth that has defined T5 for nearly two decades.”

The company said that the move reflects the “significant scale” the company has achieved, and will allow each business to operate with “greater focus, clarity, and accountability.”

T5 expects the organizational change to happen over the next few months, with dedicated teams, systems, and processes already in place.
