T-Mobile has been selected by Estonian autonomous robot manufacturer Clevon as its preferred provider for IoT connectivity and management in the US.

The partnership will see T-Mobile provide its network and IoT solutions to support Clevon to power fleet operations for on-demand driverless delivery services.

T-Mobile claims that the partnership will enable Clevon to reduce the time it takes to launch commercial delivery services from months to days.

Founded in 2008, Clevon specializes in providing driverless delivery services to its customers and boasts partnerships with other delivery services including DHL and DPD.

Details about the partnership were not disclosed, but T-Mobile said the deal is long-term and noted that its IoT solutions will help Clevon's all-electric CLEVON 1.

The US carrier will connect autonomous vehicles used to deliver various consumer goods, while the robot utilizes cameras, radar, and, other sensors in the CLEVON 1 to provide data for rapid mapping and remote operating capabilities.

“The last-mile delivery market is expected to grow almost five times to $57 billion in the next six years, so it’s thrilling to work with Clevon, one of the industry’s pioneers,” said Callie Field, president of T-Mobile Business Group. “The significant work we’re doing together demonstrates a shared passion and responsibility for improving lives, safety, and the environment.”

Clevon claims its autonomous delivery service is pivotal for companies looking to achieve net zero carbon emissions, with the CLEVON 1 able to serve up to six destinations in a single trip.

It's designed to collect orders at warehouses, retail stores, brick-and-mortar, and micro fulfillment centers.

The company entered the US market last year when it launched its North American Center of Excellence in Fort Worth, Texas.
