Wireless instrumentation solutions provider SynapSense on Friday launched a new tool for optimization of power provisioning in data centers. The Folsom, Calif.-based company made the announcement at the DatacenterDynamics conference in San Fransisco.

Branch Circuit Monitoring - the tool's name - is an extension of the company's PowerImaging product line. It is designed to help data center operators provision power to server racks more effectively and eliminate stranded power, according to a SynapSense statement.

PowerImaging, combined with the company's thermal mapping solution LiveImaging, monitors circuit- and rack-level power to enable phase balancing and identification of best locations in the data center to increase server density.

"Having the right level of instrumentation allows our customers to tightly monitor and better provision server power, while seeing real-time changes to environmental conditions and air flow - all of which enable improved visibility, quantifiable energy savings and higher resiliency," SynapSense CEO Van Deventer said in a statement.

SynapSense has been involved in several projects with its clients to implement real-time DCiE and PUE monitoring in data centers, using customized integration services. SynapSense wireless sensors and Square D power meters are integrated with existing building-management system points to enable power monitoring in these projects.
