The Swiss AI Platform ensures that data is stored and processed in Switzerland, while giving customers access to Nvidia infrastructure via a GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS).

Swisscom describes it as having a "modular design," meaning that users can select and combine components of the SuperPOD according to their needs.

Along with the GPUaaS platform, Swisscom is offering an AI Work Hub designed for data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop and train models. A GenAI Studio will also be available from 2025.

The company is already testing and implementing applications on the platform, including working with Thurgauer Kantonalbank (TKB) to test a chatbot to query internal instructions by bank employees, and for internal yes.

Urs Lehner, head of enterprise customers at Swisscom, said: “The Swiss AI Platform is a Swiss solution for the Swiss economy. Sensitive data is in good hands thanks to our powerful, trusted Swiss infrastructure.

In addition, our 400 AI and data specialists, working alongside Nvidia’s leading global industry experts, constitute a unique Swiss Center of Excellence, enabling us to support customers with tailored AI solutions.”

The Nvidia DGX SuperPOD is a turnkey AI data center solution and can comprise Nvidia H200s or B200s. Swisscom has not specified which GPUs it is offering.

Swisscom has eight data centers across Switzerland, including Basel-Grosspeter, Bellinzona-Pellandini, Bern-Wankdorf, Geneva-Montbrillant, Lausanne-Savoie, Lugano-Cinque Vie, Zurich-Herdern, Zurich-Enge.

The company is currently in the process of acquiring Vodafone Italy for €8 billion ($8.43bn).
