Ohio-based The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies, has announced the completion of the construction of its data centre and document production facility in Colorado Springs. Over the coming months, Progressive, the third largest auto insurance group in the US and fifth largest in Colorado, will install the systems required to further ensure uninterrupted service to the more than 13.5 million drivers it insures and the more than 30,000 independent insurance agencies representing the group's Drive Insurance brand throughout the country.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the two-building, 175,000 square-foot project was held in June 2005. Over 140 people are expected to be employed at the site by the end of 2007. The data center provides IT resources similar to those in a facility opened in 2001 in the company's headquarter city, Mayfield Village, Ohio, a Cleveland suburb.
The products and services of the Drive Group of Progressive Insurance Companies are marketed to consumers under the Drive Insurance from Progressive brand through more than 30,000 independent insurance agencies in the US. Progressive companies using the Drive brand make up a group that is the largest writer of auto insurance through independent agents and brokers in the nation, based on premium written, according to the company.
