Spanish construction giant Ferrovial sigend a 10 year deal with HP making the supplier its global supplier of IT infrastructure and services.
The deal includes replacing the current network of 18-data centers with two sites, one, in Spain and in the US. The contract also covers software and management and administration processes during a 10-year period.
The goals of the strategic agreement include upgrading the current system, deploying the latest technology, and centralising services management.
In a statement the building company said some of the main characteristics required were the necessary flexibility to support the growth of the international business, standardisation and centralisation of the platforms used with a view to improving usage cost efficiency, and a firm commitment to using technologies of the future, such as cloud computing.
"A distinctive feature of the agreement is that all services will be managed from two datacentres, in Spain and the US, equipped with cutting-edge backup and security systems. This centralised management model will guarantee the delivery and management of services to the company's headquarters and remote locations, with information about costs and service times."
Ferrovial CEO Íñigo Meirás commented that "this strategic agreement will enable us to continue advancing in the technological process in which the company is immersed. Innovation is a source of competitiveness in the businesses and markets in which Ferrovial operates. A company like Ferrovial needs flexibility because of the diversity of our locations and our businesses' distinct requirements."
Jos├® Antonio de Paz, Chairman of HP Spain said: "We are extremely pleased to collaborate on innovating and improving the competitiveness of a Spanish multinational with the global potential of Ferrovial. The experience of a global leader in IT transformation processes like HP, together with our talented team, will enable us to approach the technological and business challenges in this agreement from a position of assured success."
