The key task for Spanish datacenters coming into 2009 was to cater for substantial growth in the IT demands by increasing the deployment of higher density racks. This meant therefore considerable investment went into deploying or updating the systems required to power them.

The snapshot of what has prompted data center investment activity in Spain in the past year and into 2010 indicates that the next investment focus will need to accommodate these levels of development activity. In common with other markets at this stage of development and evident from the past history of other larger European and US markets the process of cater for growth into the datacenter is followed quickly by the need to cater for the implications of growth in terms of costs, efficiency, availability and other key operational criteria.

Therefore going into the 2010, money will be invested in order to improve energy efficiency, to reduce costs, to prepare for virtualization and to increase redundancy within datacenters. All of these reasons have increased strongly over 2008/9 and will drive the adoption of technologies and solutions over the coming 12 to 18 months.
