South Korea's LS Electric has signed a contract worth 110 billion won ($76m) to provide power for US data centers.
The company, which has been one of LS Electric’s clients since 2022, will receive transformers from 2026 to 2028. Its identity remains anonymous.
LS Electric is a subsidiary of South Korean conglomerate LS Group. It is the largest player in South Korea’s commercial data center power infrastructure market, holding a 60 percent share.
The subsidiary signed several deals with data center and tech firms this year. This includes a 132.9 billion won ($91.9m) deal signed just last week to provide a data center based in Tennessee with high-voltage and low-voltage switchgears and transformers, as well as a $46m contract signed in September with an unnamed “global big tech firm” for a hyperscale artificial intelligence data center project in the US.
LS Electric has also partnered with American multinational Honeywell to develop integrated data center power solutions, with plans to co-develop a battery energy storage system specifically designed for data centers, industrial facilities, and large commercial buildings.
In addition, late last year, the company signed an MoU with the Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Corporation to explore the development of AI data centers powered by SMR technology.
