US cloud computing firm Snowflake has launched a new suite of energy solutions to help power, utilities, and oil and gas companies unify siloed operational and business data on a single, secure platform.
According to Snowflake, the Energy Solutions offering will combine Snowflake’s governance tools, industry datasets, and partner-built applications to connect IT, OT, and IoT data in one environment.
The company said that its goal is to provide operators with real-time visibility into assets, enabling predictive maintenance, performance optimization, and more reliable decision-making at scale.
“Data is the control plane for the future of energy,” said Fred Cohagan, global head of Energy, Snowflake. “Whether it’s keeping the grid secure, protecting critical assets, or balancing supply and demand in volatile markets, energy companies need a trusted data foundation that can activate AI everywhere.
"Snowflake is helping the world’s energy leaders modernize how they manage data and harness AI to democratize insights so that anyone, not just data scientists, can act on intelligence in real time. This shift allows organizations to do more with less, optimize existing assets, and deliver stronger sustainability and shareholder outcomes.”
The company has already partnered with some of the world’s largest energy and utilities, including ExxonMobil, Expand Energy, IGS Energy, Powerex, PG&E, Siemens, and Sunrun, to deploy the technology.
This launch also builds on Snowflake’s new partnership with SAP, enabling energy companies to combine SAP finance and supply chain data with operational and field data on Snowflake.
The company is also rolling out more than 30 new partner-built solutions that run natively on its platform. Carto is delivering cloud-native spatial analytics for geospatial analysis and interactive mapping without moving data.
Itron has introduced a Grid Planning solution capable of running 8,760-hour power flow simulations in hours rather than months, enabling long-term infrastructure planning. Siemens is expanding its Industrial Edge integration with Snowflake, enabling secure ingestion of industrial data and new natural language analytics for operational insights.
Together, the company claims, the tools are designed to support core energy use cases such as grid planning, asset health monitoring, and operational forecasting, while maintaining built-in governance and security.
Snowflake also said the platform enables organizations to unlock the value of decades of historical energy data using natural language tools, allowing both technical and non-technical staff to access trusted insights in real time.
