Smarsh, Inc., the financial industry's most trusted managed service provider of innovative, high-performance and reliable email archiving and messaging compliance solutions, has announced the opening of the company's latest tier one data center in lower Manhattan, in close proximity to the New York Stock Exchange and other financial institutions and clients. The new data center provides added redundancy and superior performance, coinciding with rapid expansion plans and growth rates.
"I am pleased to announce the opening of our newest data center near many of our Wall Street customers, commented Stephen Marsh, CEO, Smarsh, Inc. "The new facility helps us to sustain client growth, systems growth and other technical needs we anticipate based on current trends. The 2,000ft┬▓ data center takes advantage of an extremely high-tech and secure facility that recently received more than US$35 million in technical renovation, making it one of the most ideal hosting sites in the Northeast. The building was selected by Smarsh executives because it is one of only three facilities in the Northeast that have transatlantic fiber optics connected directly to the building, creating a high-speed data pipeline overseas. Additionally, as a major "peering point for dozens of internet service providers (ISPs) in the US, the location is effectively "on the internet backbone, providing incredible bandwidth performance and redundancy.
Power redundancy and security features in the building of the newest Smarsh data center were also prominent factors in the facility selection process. Electricity highlights include abundant electric power with a Con Edison vault of 100W per square feet and an emergency generator farm. In terms of security, the building was constructed with reinforced steel, central security system and 24/7 security guard with photo ID and key card required to enter.
"We found the perfect building to house our new data center, Marsh continues. "The search was a tough one, with very particular bandwidth and electricity requirements, but in the end, our broker dealers, investment advisors and banks that we work with will be extremely pleased with the advanced redundancy, performance and security upgrades of the latest Smarsh East Coast data center.
