The Singapore Government will call S$1.14 billion worth of new infocomm tenders in Financial Year (FY) 20081. This will further increase infocomm adoption in the public sector to better meet the growing expectations of businesses and citizens in an ever-changing infocomm landscape. This was announced by RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) at the "Industry Briefing 2008: Business Opportunities for Infocomm in the Public Sector.

In this FY, infocomm companies can look forward to more than 390 new infocomm tenders with a total projected worth of S$1.14 billion to be called. Some of these projects include Singapore's Next Generation National Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN) Operating Company RFP and the development of the second Government Datacenter.
Other key projects by other government agencies include Datacenter Leasing for Tax Administration System from Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore; Command & Control System from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF); disaster recover infrastructure from Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA); and Identity Management System from MINDEF.
One of the key infocomm investments that DSTA shared at the event was the implementation of a disaster recovery infrastructure. DSTA will put in place an alternate IT disaster recovery site as part of its business continuity master plan. The IT disaster recovery site, equipped with a suite of cost-effective technologies, will ensure the continued operations of DSTA's core business functions in the event of disruptive incidents. Other projects mentioned include a pilot programme that enables the digital signing of contracts and a study on the next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
