A start-up called SimpliVity came out of the woodworks Monday announcing an all-in-one IT infrastructure solution that includes compute, networking, storage and a virtualization platform for plug-and-play IT deployment.
Called OmniCube, the solution comes virtualized on VMware. It enables a single administrator to manage the infrastructure exclusively through vCenter.
Doron Kempel, SimpliVity chairman and CEO, said assimilating functionality, performance, protection and availability controls into the hands of the VM administrator was a dramatic shift in simplification of IT.
“Three years ago we embarked upon the development of a new IT infrastructure stack that’s optimized around the VM admin,” Kempel said. “It is now debuting and will radically simplify IT infrastructure.”
The OmniCube is a 2U rack-mounted building block of a shared resource pool. The shared pool of compute, storage and network scales by adding the modules.
Features include real-time deduplication, compression and integration with public Cloud.
