Gigacom, based in Alton and Daventry, UK, has sold its Gigaduct Fibre Containment System to Siemon for an undisclosed sum. The US company has acquired all Gigacom’s assets, inventory, tooling, and customer base.
Tony Veatch, director of product management for Siemon, said, “With this acquisition and Siemon’s existing global footprint, we will have significant opportunity to expand Gigaduct’s reach and better serve our datacenter customers around the world with a more comprehensive portfolio.”
Joining the WheelHouse
The Gigaduct system will become part of Siemon’s WheelHouse Advanced Datacenter Solutions, a brand which it launched last October. The system offers a wide range of integrated products for datacenters, colocation facilities and service providers. This includes cabling, high-speed interconnect assemblies, cabinets, power distribution and datacenter design services.
Gigaduct’s raceway products for routing and protecting fibre optic cables are made from halogen-free, flame-retardant plastics, and include a range of easy-to-assemble connectors and trunking designed to comply with bend radius recommendations, with easy-access covers to enable fibre installation or removal without having to disconnecting the entire pathway.
The British ducting firm’s proud boast is that it designs and manufactures all its products in the UK but no details have been released if this may be affected as the deal matures.
“We are excited to expand our datacenter offering with the Gigaduct Fibre Containment System, which fits well into our WheelHouse with expert datacenter design services that will now include layout of this fibre ducting system,” added Veatch.
