Server Farm Realty has added a second data center to its portfolio in the Chicago market, buying a technology center property that is about 65% leased.

The developer's new site in Oak Brook, Illinois (a Chicago suburb), has two buildings, which provide about 190,000 sq ft of space. The 13-acre property is formerly known as Oak Brook Technology Center.

SFR president Avner Papouchado said this was one of the best-connected facilities in the market because of existing tenants and was in close proximity of a robust fiber infrastructure and electrical service. “Backed by SFR’s deep technical capabilities, the region’s dense fiber optic network, and solid infrastructure, the facility provides tenants with the expertise, connectivity and framework necessary to succeed in today’s saturated technology market.”

Oak Brook is home to headquarters of several major corporations, such as McDonald’s and Ace Hardware.

SFR formally unveiled its first data center in the market in June 2013. The facility, located in Chicago proper, has a footprint of 450,000 sq ft.

The company's North American data center portfolio now consists of eight facilities. Its other buildings are in Santa Clara, California, and Moses Lake, Washington.
