Digital Realty Trust announced Tuesday a new lease agreement with data center service provider ServeCentric in the San Francisco, Calif.-based REIT's facility in Dublin, Ireland.

ServeCentric has been a tenant at the Dublin data center, but growing demand for managed services has caused it to expand its footprint there, according to a DRT statement.

"We have been able to extend our footprint as and when we have needed," ServeCentric CEO Aisan Donnelly said in the statement.

"Leasing space allows us to move forward without prohibitive capital investment, and the time required to bring a new data centre online is significantly reduced. As a result, we have been able to react to the market on our terms and have simultaneously guaranteed delivery of the best service to our customers."

DRT currently owns 78 data center properties in Europe and North America. Its total property footprint is about 14 million square feet.
