Seagate Technology has launched its new Exos 4U100 and 4U74 JBOD systems, a pair of next-generation enterprise storage solutions purpose-built for data center and Edge environments.

Powered by Seagate’s Mozaic heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology, the solutions deliver up to 3.2 petabytes of storage in the most complete high-density single enclosure on the market, the company said.

Seagate’s Mozaic HAMR technology uses a medium that can be magnetized in much smaller domains than conventional vertical recording media, resulting in higher capacity HDDs.

The Exos 4U100 has been designed for petabyte-scale AI and ML workflows and supports frequent model checkpointing, long-term retention, and continuous data ingestion, allowing organizations to scale storage and support Edge analytics in real-time.

It also offers 30 percent lower power consumption than previous generations and 70 percent more efficient cooling, and can be optimized for various rack depths, tool-less access, and fast installation across data centers and Edge sites.

“The Seagate Exos 4U100 JBOD marks the beginning of a bold new chapter in edge storage innovation - engineered to meet the evolving demands of data creation, storage, replication, and analysis at the Edge,” said Melyssa Banda, SVP Edge storage and services at Seagate. “It’s not just a product; it’s a demonstration of Seagate’s commitment to empowering organizations to retain more data for longer periods of time, as leaders assess the value data can bring to future business outcomes.”

The Seagate Exos 4U100 & 4U74 JBODs will be available next quarter through Seagate’s global authorized channel partners.
