Hosting service provider Savvis launched its new private and public cloud offerings Monday. Under the umbrella name \"Symphony,\" the two IaaS (infrastructure as a service) products were designed for quick provisioning of IT capacity for test and development, Web hosting, as well as \"mission-critical applications,\" according to the provider’s news release.

The release includes two public cloud offerings, called Symphony VPDC and Symphony Open. The two services offer different service levels, including performance and automated capacity increases. Symphony Dedicated, the private cloud product, gives customers dedicated infrastructure, whose capacity can be scaled at the desired rate. Open and Dedicated can be used in tandem with traditional colocated or hosted resources to create hybrid clouds. 

“Not all applications are cloud ready, but enterprises still want to take advantage of the cost savings of cloud,” Savvis CTO Bryan Doerr said in a statement. “Savvis Symphony hybrid solutions tie the cloud into an organization’s colocation, managed services and network services to solve unique needs while backed by the security and performance of a leading infrastructure provider.” 

In addition to the different service levels offered by VPDC and Open, the VPDC offering itself can be deployed in accordance with two service profiles. The provider plans to add a third profile in the next release. 

The Symphony suite is currently supported by 18 Savvis data centers and accessible globally through the company’s network that reaches across North America, Europe and Asia.
