Savvis announced a massive data center portfolio expansion project in seven major data center markets around the world Tuesday. The program includes both new data centers and expansion of existing ones.

The CenturyLink-owned company said this was a response to growing demand for enterprise cloud, hosting, network and colocation services. Brian Klingbeil, Senikor VP of product, marketing and commercial development at Savvis, said its IT infrastructure services let its enterprise customers focus on their core strenthts.

“We offer a high-quality, flexible IT infrastructure backed by a broad range of enterprise-class products, services, reliability and network expertise,” he said.

The company is bringing two new data centers online in London and one in Singapore.

One of the new London facilities is expected to bring online an additional 11,000 sq ft in one of the world’s most vibrant data center markets at the end of June, when it opens its doors. The second new London data center, expected to come online in October, will provide 12,000 sq ft of space.

The new Singapore data center, a key hub for serving markets in the Asia-Pacific region, is expected to come online in August. This facility will provide 32,000 sq ft of new space, Savvis said.

The expansion program includes new space in five major US data center markets. A new 36,000 sq ft of data center space came online at Savvis’s Santa Clara, California, campus, and 45,000 sq ft was launched in Washington, D.C., in April.

In May, Savvins opened 51,000 sq ft of new space in Dallas. Work is underway to bring an additional 32,000 sq ft of space at the company’s data center in Weehawken, New Jersey.

Savvis currently operates more than 50 data centers around the world. Through the current expansion program, the company is bringing online about 220,000 sq ft of new raised floor, which will bring its total raised-floor inventory to more than 2m sq ft.
