The opening of Sage's new localization center in CityWest, Dublin, was accompanied by the announcement that the business software player is to invest over US$540,000 to double the size of it Irish data center.
According to silicon.com the expanded data center will have additional functionality as a disaster recovery site for Sage worldwide, hosting mission-critical IT infrastructure for the company's US and European subsidiaries.
"This is a very important strategic move by Sage, explained Sage Ireland managing director Liam Mullaney in the article. "The first tranche of the data center, phase one, was about putting in place the technical infrastructure to have a backup for our headquarters in Atlanta. It would act as a failover to Dublin in the event of disaster.
"Phase two is for applications outside the US for SageCRM.com hosted software, CoreTime, Line 50 and I'm sure that throughout Europe and the US Sage businesses will want to use Dublin as the hosting centre for their applications.
