The Sacombank Data Center, which will be designed and supervised by contractors chosen by international tender, is expected to come up in the capital, Ho Chi Minh City by the year-end.
According to a Sacombank representative, the design would meet the Telecommunications Industry Association's (TIA) standards for data centers.
Sacombank, the heavyweight listed-firm on the bourse is one of two Vietnam commercial banks to receive funds from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the State Bank of Vietnam to develop an international-standardized risk management system.
The funds come as part of a cooperative project between CIDA and the central bank to build on a model network for the management of banking risk.
The lender is scheduled to have its network running by the end of next year or at latest early 2008.
The system will then be applied to all Vietnam's commercial banks.
Sacombank is Vietnam's largest commercial joint-stock bank with legal capital of almost US$119 million and 127 agencies across the country.
