Romonet launched a Portal offering a cloud-based solution for data center operators to forecast, plan and measure business performance which incorporates its predictive modeling software.

Companies who need to turn data into intelligence by drilling into the energy, estate management and customer costing and chargeback can use the Portal to compare actual versus forecast costs. By understanding the variables between what has been planned for what is actually used and what it costs, companies can keep a tighter rein on expenditure with no risk of reduced performance or service availability.

The Portal gives data center operators a customisable view of operational and financial performance from portfolio to client level.

Through visibility of data for a single site or across a whole data center fleet in areas such as predicted energy use and cost versus actual use, operators can make informed decisions which impact operational efficiency. By benchmarking capital return across the portfolio, operators can accurately evaluate and prioritise capital investment and forecast and manage cash-flow and budgets, said Zahl Limbuwala, CEO of the specialist data center software house.

Limbuwala said: “This is not just simply making our software available online. There are many additional benefits to using Romonet’s Portal. Portal was designed because business and finance managers told us they wanted a single place where they could manage, control and accurately forecast IT financial performance across their entire data center estate – at the tap of a screen.  Our Portal dashboard was developed with the whole organisation in mind – to understand, manage and control costs at every level of the business. The Portal will make it far easier for data center managers tasked with controlling costs to embrace IT financial management. Metering and monitoring are important in operations; but business needs its own window on the financial and operational performance of IT and data center infrastructure.”

A highly visual ‘window’ on the business management of data centers – now and into the future – gives the cost transparency needed to reduce financial risk and increase predictability, the company said
