Riverbed Technology made its name with WAN optimization, and has been steadily expanding its product range to include more networking devices.

One of the concepts at the heart of its strategy is ‘Zero Branch IT’.  It means customers keep just a minimum of compute in the office to run applications, while actually hosting all of the corporate information in a data center of their choice.

To achieve this, Riverbed recently launched SteelFusion – a hyperconverged platform that can run applications and quickly exchange data with the head office without hogging all of the expensive bandwidth.
