India's central bank, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has reportedly inaugurated a new data center in the central Indian city of Nagpur.
According to the Times of India, the new facility will act as a back-up for storing all India's vital financial data as well as the bank's own operational information.
The data center, construction of which began 18 months ago, is reportedly part of a wider disaster management programme developed by RBI aimed at avoiding disruption caused by any natural or terrorist act.
Sources close to the project, and quoted by The Times, say that two other centers, in Hyderabad and Belapur (Navi Mumbai),will operate in a similar manner, though these are yet to be opened.
