IBM is no longer accepting new client offers in its Cumberland Forest facility in Sydney, and could be planning to leave the facility in 2019.

According to documents seen by The Register, the company’s lease on the facility is due to expire in 2019, and a spokesperson reportedly stated that this does not mean it will be closed, but that a decision has yet to be made. However, the spokesperson is said to have confirmed that customers using the facility are being migrated elsewhere.

IBM has two other data centers in Sydney which host IBM’s cloud, unlike this one, which is used for managed hosting and outsourced IT provisioning services.

Despite overall revenue losses for 20 consecutive quarters, the company’s gains from cloud have risen steadily in recent years, having registered a 35 percent cloud revenue increase between 2015 and 2016.

The company states that this is due to its having entered an innovation phase in its cloud expansion strategy, following on the austerity needed for initial deployments. IBM now offers its Bluemix and SoftLayer cloud services from over 50 locations.

In May, it launched its fourth data center in Australia, to expand its Bluemix presence in the country, as well as its IBM Blockchain and Watson AI services.
